In-house Baseball Program

The In-House Baseball League offers opportunities for players to participate in a baseball league that is solely driven by the community of Northfield.  The goal of the In-House Baseball League is to give every child in Northfield from those entering Kindergarten through 3rd grade an opportunity to play and enjoy the great game of baseball.

The In-House baseball League consists of teams from the NYBA who play each other.  All games are played at Sechler Park.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the NYBA In-House program is to provide an opportunity for Northfield youth to participate in baseball activity and develop baseball skills, knowledge of the game and sportsmanship.

NYBA Policy Highlights

(For additional policies and rules see league specific rules posted under the rules section under the in-house portion of the website.)

In-House Baseball League team coaches

Parent coaches will be selected for the In-House teams from those who indicate interest.

All coaches must:

- Pass a criminal background check.

- Complete the Trusted Coaches Program - which includes instructional videos; concussion training and a background check.

- Conform to the guidelines set forth by the NYBA.

In-house Baseball League team playing time guidelines

All coaches will do their best to play all players equally each game in the infield and outfield.  Equal play does not mean that all players will pitch and catch equally. Pitcher and catcher positions will be at the discretion of the coach.  Pitcher will be considered an infield position and catcher will be considered outfield position.  Exceptions to this rule would be the following:  Player game/practice attendance issues, shortened game for any reason ( rainout, 10 run rule, time limit, etc.).

All players should be allowed to play multiple positions and must have the opportunity to play both infield and outfield.

Player safety should be taken into consideration when placing players at defensive positions.

There will be continuous batting and free substitution for all games.

For specific League level guidelines, please see corresponding Rules.

Game/practice attendance

Every player's presence is important.  Unless otherwise exempted by the coach, all players are expected to attend all practices and league games.  Excused absences will be granted for vacations, school, religious and family events.  However, it is expected that the coach will be notified in advance of such events.  Unexcused absences may result in a reduction of playing time at the coach’s discretion.

 Late Registrations

An additional $50.00 fee will be added after the regular registration period closes.  Late registrations will only be accepted if team space allows.  Once uniforms are ordered no late registrations will be accepted.
