Bat rules for 2017 Season

If needed, the NYBA will provide each travel team one or two bats that meet the specifications below.

If player wants to use their own bat, please be sure it meets the specifications below.

 

 

Travel Team bat rules for 2017 season

Note:  Official league or tournament rules will take precedence over information below (if different).

10U-14U

  • Big barrel bats - 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" barrel diameter

    • Have the permanent USSSA 1.15 BPF or Babe Ruth approved 1.15 BPF mark on its taper OR

    • Be a qualified BBCOR bat OR

    • Be a wood bat

  • Small barrel bats - 2 1/4" barrel diameter

    • Have the permanent USSSA 1.15 BPF mark on its taper OR

    • Be a wood bat

15U

  • 2 5/8" max barrel diameter

    • Must be a certified BBCOR bat with the approved BBCOR mark on its taper OR

    • Be a wood bat

* Weight differential (or drop) -- Refers to the difference between the length of the bat (in inches) and the weight of the bat (in ounces).  Example:  L = 32 inch, W = 27 oz, differential = -5 or drop 5.
